Basil Bourque
Managing Director

Mr. Bourque began his financial markets career on the New York Futures Exchange in 1982 with Cargill Investor Services. In 1984, he became a member of the New York Futures Exchange and partnered with Mr. McNamara to successfully implement futures and options arbitrage programs on interrelated stock index products.

In 1986, Basil established one of the first market making and arbitrage operations in the futures contract for the Commodity Research Bureau (CRB) Index. His extensive experience with the CRB contract resulted in him becoming a member of the committee that instituted changes to the CRB Index in 1992 and 1995. Mr. Bourque also assisted the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) in the launch of the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index (GSCI) futures where he consulted on construction of the GSCI and was an invited speaker at educational GSCI seminars. His firm was appointed as a CME registered market maker and provided the early liquidity to the GSCI futures contract.

Basil also established a proprietary currency derivatives trading business in 1994 with operations in Chicago, New York and Dublin, Ireland. During his trading career Basil has negotiated and supervised many joint trading ventures with large global partners. These successful partnerships included a commodity index trading venture with Cargill Inc. and a foreign currency market making business with the Bank of Ireland. In addition, he has been an active member of the New York Board of Trade since 1988 holding positions on many of the Exchange’s committees including serving as a Director of the Citrus Associates.
