Since 1982, Sean has been the owner of a futures and options derivative trading firm specializing in commodity, currency and stock indices trading and investment management.
During the course of his career, Mr. McNamara has been a recognized leader in developing innovative financial products and services. From 1984-1988, he served on the Board of Directors of the New York Stock Exchange’s Futures subsidiary (NYFE) as Chairman of the New Products and Floor Committees. In 1986, he was instrumental in developing and trading the first investable commodity index (CRB index futures).
In 1990, Mr. McNamara lead a successful effort to establish a currency futures and options exchange (FINEX Europe) in Dublin, Ireland. His firm partnered with the Bank of Ireland to create a currency and index trading venture which implemented market making and arbitrage strategies. FINEX Europe opened in June 1994 and is the only U.S. regulated futures exchange on foreign soil. Mr. McNamara served as Chairman of the Exchange in Dublin from 1994-1996.
Sean returned to New York in 1996 and served as Chairman of FINEX (1996-1998), a financial futures exchange in New York and parent organization to FINEX Europe. He has been active in commodity index investment management and has replicated and traded every major index.
Mr. McNamara was also a founder and former Vice Chairman of Trade Exchange Network, plc. TEN is a Dublin, Ireland based company which is applying proprietary futures exchange technology to the trading of defined outcome events. TEN’s web based exchange (www.intrade.com) currently has over 60,000 members and recently received media and academic acclaim for its active presidential election contract.
Sean is a Founder and Managing Director of Roundstone Advisors, LLC. Roundstone Advisors is a registered investment advisor that specializes in commodity and fixed income money management. The firm has over $1 billion of assets under management.
Mr. McNamara received a BS in Finance from Fairfield University in 1980.
